Regional Efforts
The Hampton Roads Planning District Commission (HRPDC), which is comprised of the 17 regional jurisdictions, recently communicated with Virginia Governor Ralph Northam about the localities' desire to assist the Commonwealth and the Virginia Department of Health in the COVID-19 vaccine distribution process. City Council & Planning Commission Meetings
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, occupancy at both City Council and Planning Commission meetings is limited to Council and Commission members and select staff.

Those wishing to address the City Council can do so in one of two ways:
Option 1: Email council@cityofchesapeake.net or call 757-382-6151 prior to 5 p.m. on the night of the meeting. Provide your name, the agenda item you wish to address, and your comments. The City Clerk will read your comments into the record during the meeting.
Option 2: Call 757-520-1250 between 5:45 and 6:30 p.m. the night of the meeting to participate by phone. At the appropriate time, the caller will address Council during the meeting.
Those wishing to address the Planning Commission can do so in one of two ways:
Option 1: Provide written comments via letter or email planning@cityofchesapeake.net. Written comments must include your name, address, the number, and the name of the agenda item being addressed. Comments will be read into the record during the meeting and must be received no later than 4 p.m. on the night of the meeting.
Option 2: Provide comments by phone during the meeting by calling 757-520-1250 between
6-7 p.m. the night of the meeting. Callers will be required to provide their name, address, and the number and the name of the agenda item being addressed. Callers will be queued to address the Planning Commission when their item is heard on the agenda.

COVID Restrictions
For the latest on Governor Ralph Northam's orders for Virginia, visit the Virginia Coronavirus website. Everyone ages 5 and older is required to wear a mask or face covering at all times while entering, exiting, traveling through, and spending time in a variety of public settings.
Online services remain the safest option for conducting City business. If you must do business in person at a City facility, please call ahead to ensure the service is available. You can call 757-382-2489 or the specific department. When visiting a City building, you must maintain social distance and wear a face covering. Please do not enter any City building if you have a fever or have been exposed to COVID-19 in the past 14 days. It is still safer at home, so please do all you can to avoid in-person services.
For the added safety and health of our at-risk populations, the hour from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. is reserved for those age 65 and older, and those with a serious health condition. We appreciate the public assistance in self-enforcing this restriction, for everyone's benefit.
